Marc from Room For Comic!

This week I had the pleasure of chatting to Marc from Room For Comics. His wonderful studio is situated just above our bustling bakery and is a perfect addition to your weekend visit. Fuelling creativity and togetherness, we feel Marcs’ ideals align with our own and we are super excited to be alongside him! Here’s what he had to say:

How long have you had the business?
“For the shop upstairs, it’s been three years as of September!”

What is at the heart of what you do?
“My passion for comics drives everything. I want to inspire both children and adults to embrace their creativity—there are no rules! It’s all about sparking a love for comics and making it fun.”

What has been a wow moment for you?
“I’ve been publishing comics since 2010, so that’s 12 years now. I never imagined we would have our own studio, but it’s incredible to have a dedicated space that has been so well received. It feels amazing to do what I love for a living and to finally have a home for it!”

“The journey has been fuelled by passion—My wife Jane and I started a graphic design company in 2007 called Creative Hero, and relocated to Macclesfield in 2012. We could see Macclesfield evolving into a more modern and vibrant place, and I realised this was the perfect location for us.”

“As for the Treacle Market, we decided to bring it to the studio instead. This change has attracted people from out of town, which has been fantastic for our community. It means we have somewhere inside with all the facilities to accommodate the art, whereas at the market the elements often bested us, and it wasn’t the best place for people to get stuck in, so the shop just made the most sense!”
