Halloween at Pye Ash Farm
Pye Ash Farm- Halloween Farm Visit!
This month I was invited to visit Pye Ash Farm just a short drive away from our bakery. You may have seen this visit briefly on social media, but here is a more in depth tale of how things went!
Upon the collaboration of our bakery with the amazing crown prince squash that Pye Ash Farm has grown with love, we have created a wonderful collection of pastry and bread creations for Autumn for you to try! Our amazing bread team has taken the classic sourdough and infused the squash and some smoked cheddar to make this warm and seasonal dough. It pairs perfectly with soup in these colder months, and why not double up for the spooky season and make it a pumpkin soup?
The pastry team has also been hard at work coming up with the fantastic fusions of squash in our pastry, which has come back around this weekend! Dig your teeth into our Squash, Feta and Honey pastry! This dazzling swirled danish is a great savoury option if you want a brunch item this weekend!
Upon arrival at the farm, the brilliant Martha was there to greet me and show me around. Everywhere I looked there was every kind of pumpkin and squash you could imagine, and a maze full of them too! You could pick as many as you wanted and end the maze buying your favourites. Alongside the maze were sheep and pigs to see, and a blackboard to write on, making sure everyone knew you had been there!
Not only that, but there were good stalls to keep you fuelled, and drinks to keep you warm. I had a stunning hot chocolate that kept me cosy my whole journey round! And just beyond those were the amazing sheep herding shows. I saw some of the farm's talented dogs doing what they do best, and it was really a marvel to see how well trained these pups are. They also offer classes to train both dogs and people to become sheep herding professionals. Why not give it a try?
Picking out my own pumpkin from the patch to take home was the icing on the cake of this Halloween adventure. So don’t miss out these last few days of Halloween fun at the farm, or make sure to head down in the spring for lambing season!
What a spooky special treat this was!
