Flour Water Salt is a renowned artisan bakery, which has grown over the years into a thriving local business – as well as our bakery depot, we now have a retail shop and café with a brand new Neopolitan pizza oven, we supply a range of wholesale customers and continue to expand and evolve.
Whoah! That was in 2019! After the difficulties of 2020, we are now planning to grow our team across the board as we navigate through 2021. We believe that we’ve weathered part of the storm and are stronger and more resilient because of it.
Immediately we are looking for an experienced bakers to join our small team. You’ll need to have a passion for long-fermentation bread and be interested in helping us continually improve. Experience with sourdough leavens and pre-ferments is a definite advantage.
We think we’re a great place to work, and differ from many other bakeries in that we can offer plenty of potential for creativity on a daily basis – our bakers take responsibility for deciding on weekly specials, and there is scope to develop your own ideas for new products. We also run a range of bread classes, and our bakers teach and support these. If you’re looking to expand your skills, and take your baking to the next level, we’re the place for you.
We are offering a full-time positions and your salary is based on 40 hours per week, with paid overtime as needed. Weekday shifts start at 2am, with earlier starts at the weekend. Once a month we bake for Macclesfield’s Treacle Market, which means baking from midnight Saturday into Sunday morning. Our hours are unsocial, and we expect you to manage your sleep to keep up with the night’s work.
As a baker at Flour Water Salt, you’ll need to be efficient and precise, working both independently and as part of a team. Your duties will include:
- Scaling and shaping
- Oven work
- Planning for markets and seasonal specials
- Ordering stock
- Product development (in collaboration with the rest of the team)
- Keeping up to date with cleaning and hygiene schedules
- Communicating effectively with other staff to ensure the smooth running of the bakery
Around 40 hours/week, including Saturdays and Treacle Market Sundays.
Salary dependent on experience.
